In the spirit of giving and foster closer ties with the communities where it operates, Da Ma Cai volunteer staff members bring Deepavali joy to Pusat Bantuan Sentul (PBS) at Sentul through the Staff-in-the-Community programme.
As part of this programme, PBS received a whopping financial aid worth RM10,000 for this Deepavali festive celebration. The aid, in the form of grocery shopping vouchers will be in good use to assist 20 low-income Hindu families from Sentul-Jalan Chow Kit-Jalan Ipoh area for the basic food provision such as rice, flour, oil and dhall. There are also vouchers allocated for the 25 underprivileged children attending tuition classes at PBS to get all their educational needs for schooling next year including stationeries and books.
The Deputy Chairman of PBS, Manoharan Dhanaraj together with his board members and volunteers could not contain their joy when they were told they are receiving Da Ma Cai aid during this festive season.
“It is certainly a burden lift for us as the cost of living has increased and we are hampered by a lack of various resources. We truly hope the public will soon realise that we are providing aid and also contributing to the enrichment of the community,” he said.
“This is a blessing, as the fund will not just be used for Deepavali; in fact, it will help last for at least a good 3 months,” said Mr Jeyasingam Sinnadurai, a volunteer at PBS since its established.
