Da Ma Cai is motivated and continued to make a positive difference to the community while pursuing its corporate goals. Recently, Da Ma Cai through its very own Staff-in-the-Community programmes paid a visit to the Amitabha Caring Shelter which is located at Happy Garden, Old Klang Road.
The programme started with excited and energetic Da Ma Cai staff volunteers gathered at a hypermarket to get the basic necessity for the old folks home. Upon arriving at the Home, the elderly casted a glance towards the volunteers with their smiling face as they invited the volunteers to the Home.
After the briefing and greeting the elderly, the volunteers started to arrange the provisions in its place before presenting a gift pack to every elderly folks. They were delighted and accepted the favour happily. A generous portion of carrot cake and thirst quenching fruit juice were later served to the residents of Amitabha Caring Shelter.
The golden ray of sun had brought so much warmth and cheers as the volunteers chatted with the elderly folks in the Home where they talked about their past and experiences. It warmed everyone’s heart to get to see them interacting with each other as if they were close friends although they have just met for the first time.
"We did not have a lot of activities for the lonely elderly folks here other than the party that the sponsors organised. But we do have people coming in, bringing in hampers and ang pows for the people here," said Loh, 70, a retiree who helps out at the home. According to him, most of the residents at the Home do not have families; and they really look forward to having visitors bearing little gifts.
During this programme, Da Ma Cai also donated RM7,000 grocery shopping vouchers to Amitabha Caring Shelter to lighten the burdens of the Home. Da Ma Cai staff volunteers are thankful for the opportunity to visit the Home as this visit gave them a sense of realisation on parental love and service to the community.
