Christmas came early for the residents of Sweet Care Welfare Society thanks to Da Ma Cai.
The gaming company contributed cash aid to the welfare home that provides shelter to underprivileged children, teenagers and senior citizens.
Located in Taman Bidara, Selayang, the home aims to helps its residents achieve their full potential and lead independent and fulfilling lives.
The home also assists single mothers.
Currently, 13 senior citizens, five single mothers, eight teenagers and 74 children, of which three are physically challenged, live at the home.
During their visit, Da Ma Cai volunteers played games with the children while a catering team set up a scrumptious spread.
After the meal, cash vouchers worth RM7,000 were handed to the home’s caretaker, Thanam Krishnan, for groceries, school uniforms and other school supplies for the children.
The single-storey corner terrace house had been extended to accommodate sufficient bunk beds in each room as the number of residents keeps growing.
Mattresses are laid out on the floor where beds are not available.
“The end of the year is one of the most crucial times for almost every non-profit organisation, as we usually receive a most of our annual donations from October through December. But this year, we are experiencing lower than usual contributions,” said Thanam.
“We do hope that our small effort will serve to inspire our community to get involve and contribute to the underprivileged,” Da Ma Cai spokesperson added.
